It’s easy to feel alone and lost in the military community; moving and starting over every few years is a typical pastime for so many of us. But there is so much beauty and joy in the art of connecting with others via a shared love and appreciation for creativity.
Hi, I’m Rashelle!
Welcome to Hooks & Helos! I can’t wait to share my love of crochet with you. I’ve been creating crochet goodies for about 20 years (along side the ups and downs of living life as a military spouse!) and just recently decided to (try to) make it into an actual, real-life business. I used to enjoy long walks down the yarn aisles of craft stores but we are currently stationed overseas so my favorite yarn places are no longer just down the street (insert super sad face.) I’m in love with my beautiful family, our sweet cat, and our goofy dog. I have high hopes that this will be a fun and safe place for me to share my crochet crafts and military family lifestyle!

Military spouse
While we were engaged, my husband officially joined the military (with plans to become a helicopter pilot) in 2007. We were married later that same year and moved to our first duty station less than a month after the wedding. We’ve lived all over the place and I can confidently say that I wouldn’t want to live this lifestyle with anyone else.
Crochet, crochet, crochet!
Crochet is my craft of choice because I absolutely love how many things can be handmade with just a crochet hook and a skein of yarn! I’m currently discovering the beauty of making my own garments and I haven’t decided yet if this particular way of crocheting is easier or harder than amigurumi. I’m also dabbling in creating my own patterns!
Motherhood
I am not a parenting expert at all. I am just out here trying to survive being a mom to four daughters. I’d love to share the parenting wins and losses because no one should feel alone on the journey of parenthood. It’s wild out here, folks!
